Yesterday I met up with a couple of my uni friends in London, and being students, we did cheap touristy things! We rode Borris bikes around Hyde Park (SO much fun!) and saw Buckingham Palace and Candem Market and ate A LOT of food! Here's what I chose make-up wise and a few pictures from the day!
Base:

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in 2
Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Transparent
I thought today I would share my
thoughts about something I’ve been loving ever since I picked up off the shelf.
I am now reaching for Benefit’s The Porefessional on a daily basis (Caitlin B warned me this might happen!) I
keep having to remind myself that, no, I do not need to waste it when I am
simply going to do the weekly shop! But believe me, I think it’s that good.
The lady at the counter informed that it
has quickly become the UK’s No.1 selling primer and I can see why! You simply
smooth a thin layer of the product over your skin and it not only acts as a
perfect base for make-up but also reduces the appearance of your pores, which I
am so grateful for! The lady also said that you can wear it alone, with out
foundation, which is true I guess, but it gives almost no coverage (considering
on the back it claims it‘s translucent). So don’t expect this to work similarly
to a lightweight BB cream, you may need to pair it with foundation or at least
concealer.
Although this may seem a little pricey, I
think it retails at around £24, I think it’s worth the splurge. Or perfect for
any upcoming birthday lists?
Let me know if you’ve tried it and what you
think!

So, I've been on a bit of a health kick recently and quickly realised that after working out you don't necessarily have a lot of time to be ready before you're needed elsewhere. Whether it's work, seeing friends or if you're in school and you need to get to class after P.E; here are the products that have made it into my post work out routine.
First, hop in the shower and wash all of that sweat away. And it may seem obvious, but deodorant is very much your friend after exercise, I don't tend to use a particular one but I like this Crystal Invisible one by Sure. If you're in a rush like me, it's unlikely you have the time to wash your hair so heaps of dry shampoo will sort out any greasiness you may have. Again, there are lots of options out there but I always stick to the cheap and cheerful Batiste.
It's important to use a light weight moisturiser as your skin may still feely oily, this Clinique Superdefense is really light but super hydrating at the same time. Next, I love using The Body Shop's Vitamin E Face Mist, it's so refreshing and cooling. As a primer, Benefits Porefessional will work wonders, and will leave your skin feeling velvety smooth. I quite often skip foundation and opt for a decent concealer to cover up and discolouration and a light weight powder to reduce any shine, the Rimmel Stay Matt powder is perfect for this. The next step is simply do your make-up however you like, I always go for something easy and simple if time isn't on my side! (Side note: you may be able to skip blusher if you're one of the ones that has a natural flush after working out). Next I go back to the Vitamin E Face Mist as it works really well as a make-up setting spray to hold it all in place.
Last but not least, to cover up any possible lingering nasty smells I always give my feet a spritz of The Body Shops Peppermint Foot Spray and finish off with a light, fresh smelling perfume. My favourite for this occasion is Dior Addict in the pink version.
And that's it, would love to hear any recommendations for products I should add to the routine!

So, yesterday Caitlin B and I took a little trip down the coast to Brighton. I love spending the day in Brighton, especially when you're shopping! And I may have made a few purchases along the way...
Clothes
Black Daisy Print Skirt (bottom right) - Urban Outfitters
White Floral Chiffon Top (bottom left) - H&M
Blue Aztec Print Shorts (top left) - Urban Outfitters
White Floral Print Crop Top (top right) - Urban Outfitters
We didn't have much luck in all of the usual shops but as you can see, Urban Outfitters had all sorts going on!
Beauty and Other Stuff
I didn't go too crazy on the beauty front (makes a change) I just couldn't find much that I knew I really wanted. However, something I knew I did really want was Benefit's Porefessional, as I've heard so many other beauty lovers swear by it. So excited to try this out!
I picked up a couple of the Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine varnishes, a pastel pink in Rose Hip and a pastel mint green in Sugar Apple. I was also offered a free gift of a Limited Edition Barry M varnish exclusive to Superdrug, I chose the gorgeous pink in Promenade. I also picked up a face wash (boring, I know), but I' pretty excited to try it, the Garnier Pure Active Fruit Energy gel wash. And last but not least I picked up a last minute candles from Urban Outfitters in Lemon Fizz. It was on offer so I couldn't really say no...
Taking a shopping break we went for some really lovely tapas at a place called Bellota. Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of the food but look at the size of the glasses of sangria we were given!
We were pretty happy to say the least!

And the award for best come-back product goes too...
This is one of those products I've had laying around in my makeup collection for years, that is always sneakily finding its way back into my makeup bag. However, over the last year or so its been pretty vacant from my life, and it wasn't until the release of the new Lolli tint, that I even remembered how amazing they were!
So if you haven't used them before they basically come in a nail varnish style bottle, with a varnish style applicator brush, which can be used to tint the apples of your cheeks or your lips. Its an odd concept and feels totally wrong to apply something that looks like it was designed for nails to your face but I promise you the concept works all too well. I really enjoy wearing them on my lips when I'm having a minimal makeup kind of day, as they give a hint of colour, without being obvious faux. I then love applying them to my cheeks under my blush to intensify the colour.
The combo I'm loving at the moment is Lolli Tint used underneath Benefits Havana, as this creates a really pretty bubblegum pink shade blush, which is really fun and girly for the season. I do tend to use the different colours depending on the season, sticking to the original Benetint for Winter and Posie tint for Spring.
Because they are a tint or 'stain' they do have really long wear staying power, which is why they are perfect if you want your makeup to stay put all day without many touch ups. To apply I like to pop some onto the back of my hand and then dip my finger into it and pat it onto and then blending into the apple of my cheeks, this avoids some areas becomes more intense in colour to others. For the lips I just use the applicator brush and then blot in with my little finger. I also love that when you apply to both the cheek and lip, all the tones in your makeup match which is just fool proof, and it saves you carrying around 2 products - BONUS!
I hope you enjoyed this post, let me know if you've tried any of the Benetints and which are you favourites!

Beautifying
Benefit
Bobbi Brown
The Minimalist Illusion: Makeup That Will Fool The Boyfriend
10:46Unknown
How many times have you heard a guy say, 'I prefer the natural look' and 'Girls don't need to wear make up' but you just don't feel as confident without the make up to hide behind? Or the other worst fear is when a guy tells you your wearing too much make up (this has happened to me and I was mortified- guys just don't appreciate experimental trends do they?) So the concept behind today's look is subtle makeup, with a few little beautifying tips and tricks, that will totally fall the boyf to thinking you don't have much on.
The Base:
To start I used the Benefit Porefessional (1), this ensures that my base is totally smoothed out, which means I should require less foundation, and will make the base last longer! I then decided to highlight under my foundation to make it more subtle but still give me an ever so slight glow, for this you will need a liquid highlighter, I opted for the Bobbi Brown Face Highlighter Pen in Opal (2), and used the tinniest amount on the tops of my cheeks then blended with my fingers. I then went for my trusty Nars Compact Foundation, as I can just use this to create a really light coverage with a dewy finish. Just make sure you blend really well down to the neck and up into the hair line. Alternatively I would opt for a BB cream, but sadly I have run out *cries a little* as this will be totally cake appearance free and no risk of the orange line under chin look. I also concealed any blemishes I had with the Collection 2000 concealer (5) and blended with my finger. The Brows
I decided to keep the brows really natural and not too strong. For this I used the Mac Charcoal Brown eye shadow (4) and an angled brush to fill in any sparse areas. I find using a powered eyeshadow is easier than a pencil, as I've gives a more natural finish and is easier to build up.
The Eyes
I stuck to neutral colours with the eyes, although I know eyeshadow doesn't look totally natural, it can really brighten up your eyes so I wouldn't go without! Today I used the Loreal Colour Appeal Trio Pro in Golden Fidelity (6) I used the golden shade swept all over the lid on a fluffy brush (first brush from left), and then on a flat shader (4th brush) I used the lightest toned pink in the inner corners and tear duct ares to really brighten the eyes. I then used the darkest shade on a rounded blending brush (2nd brush) tapping most the product off onto the back of my hand before lightly blending it into the outer crease to give my eye more shape and definition. To thicken the appearance of my lash line, I look the same colour on an angled brush (3rd brush) and pushed this into the roots of the lashes in the outer corner. Now the next step is the most important of all, CURL YOUR LASHES! (7) This really opens up the eyes making them look bigger and more awake. I then oped for a lengthening mascara, the Clinique Lash Power Mascara (sorry forgot to photograph this!) to naturally lift and lengthen the lashes, I applied this to top and bottom.
The Bronze and Blush
Now here is when things can start to get tricky. I went for a matte bronzer with no shimmer just to warm up the appearance of my face. I would suggest not contouring for this look as its quite hard to get right and natural looking! I took Benefit's Hoola (8) on a big face brush, and just buffed it in circling motions where I would naturally get tanned, so across cheeks and temple, I make sure I tap most of the product off onto my hand so I don't apply to much! Then with blush opt for something thats flattering on your skin tone, I used the Benefit Sugarbomb (9), as it can be applied quite subtly.
The Lips
So to create slightly fuller and perfect lips I began by lining them with the Model Co. Universal Lip Pencil, then use your perfect nude-my lips but better shade, I went for Revlons Afternoon Tea, (10), I went straight on from the bullet then patted it in with my finger, to make it last longer!
So that was my minimalist beautifying make up, that I think can fool the boyfriend into thinking you don't have much on. Hope you enjoyed this post, let me know your tricks for naturally beautifying makeup!

So this week I've had a massive girl crush on Amanda Seyfried after reading this months Elle magazine, the interview for this by the way was so honest and eye opening so definitely worth a read! I also loved her shoot for this, it was a kind of pretty grunge look which I lovedddd, with a really soft brown smokey eye, which I attempted to re create this week. I slightly adapted the look to make it a bit softer and more day time appropriate but if you want to see how I create the look then read on!
So for my base I started with the Benefit Porefessional, one of my staple products when I want my make up to look extra flawless and want it to last! I've also heard that the Garnier Miracle Skin Cream is a great dupe for this, although I've not tried it yet myself but thats a cheaper alternative! I then go on with my new fav foundation the Nars Compact Foundation, to get a glowy, skin perfecting base. For my brows I stuck to my usual routine, using the Mac eyeshadow in Charcoal Brown just to fill in any parts that are sparse and to give more definition. I also used the Collection 2000 concealer to hide any blemishes.
For the eyes I used my staple Urban Decay Naked pallet (so worth the investment, I use it every day and have created so many looks with it!) along with the Mac Charcoal brown eyeshadow (multi use product alert!) I started by blending Toasted all over the lid, as a base colour which is slightly purpley in tone on a fluffy brush, similar to what Amanda is wearing, I also blended this all the way along my bottom lash line with a compact rounded brush, keeping it quite messy and low. To give definition I then began to blend Charcoal Brown into the outer corner and into the crease line to create definition. I slowly kept building and blending, building and blending until I got the darkness I wanted. I also blended with a clean brush into a winged shape, using the end of my eye brow as a vanishing point. I again ran the Charcoal brown under the eye, to create more intensity. One thing I would suggest it not to be afraid to go to low with the eye shadow underneath, as it create a really nice intense and smokey grungy effect. To create even more drama in the outer corners I then went in with Dark horse from the Naked Decay Pallet, and really just blended directly into the outer corners and crease to add intensity.
As I adapted this to a day look, I added Sin into the tear duct area just to brighten the eyes, making them look brighter and wider!
To thicken my lash line I used Dark Horse again on an angled brush, and just worked it into my lash line, to make them appear thicker and add to the smokey look.
Amanda went for quite a contoured look in this editorial, so I decided to use the Bourjois chocolate bronzer, as it gives a slightly more matte finish. I then sucked my cheeks in an buffed it into the hollow of my cheeks, working in a gigantic 3 shape starting at my temple round and through the hollow of my cheeks and and then along my jaw. I then opted for a browny toned blush- Clinique's Plum, and lightly added this to the tops of my cheeks rather then the apples of compliment the contouring.
To finish off I went for a peachy coral nude toned lip- Loreal's Dating Coral, I think Amanda went for a slightly lighter tone, however this didn't suit me so I slightly adapted, but any sheer, muted nude will work amazingly to compliment the soft smokey brown eye.
I'd love to recreate this as a going out evening look, opting for smog as a base colour and Dark horse used more intensely!
I hope you enjoyed this look and found it helpful, and hope your all having a lovely bank holiday weekend!

Now is it just me, or are things way more exciting and cute if they are miniture?! Ok I definitely think its a girly thing! So today I thought I'd share with you some amazing products I've discovered through samples. Its such a great way to try out different products and take them for a spin without splashing out on the full size to later discover you hate it! Whats even more of a bonus however, is when they're free. My auntie is the queen of convincing beauty consultants to give her samples of all the latest products, one year I seem to remember her coming away from the Clarins stand with about 15 samples! so its definitely a little shopping trick I've picked up from her and here are my top tricks:
1. Gift boxes: A great and cheaper way to try lost of products from the same range!
2.Magazine: Freebies in magazines are great, Benefit are amazing for this.
3.Ask beauty consultants: More often than not they're more than happy to hook you up with the latest product sample! So get talking to them and don't be worried about asking for freebies!
4.Ask your hairdresser and beautician, they always have product samples stashed away, so ask them if they have any new products in and what they would suggests for your hair/skin.
Anyway on with my discoveries...
First to mention is the Clarins Hydra Quench Range, including the Intensive Serum and the Cream-Mask, I tried these out in a little gift set from Clarins, which included a full size of the moisturisor, which I did go ahead and re purchase as soon as I ran out because I can't live without it. I also have a big love for these sistering products to, and have found that even though they're miniature they've lasted me for ages! I call these my hungover skin saviours, the Serum especially because it gives my skin an instant zap of hydration, and the mask is really nice for the evenings if you've had a long day!
Second is the Champneys Distant Shores range, again I was bought a gift box for christmas with the small sizes but I think its available all year round. I adore the smell of these products, they smell so so beautiful very exotic and fruity with extracts of passionfruit, mango and citrus. I think the gift boxes are just the best way to try out everything in the range!
Now Clinique, are one of the best brands of sample sizes, they always have bonus time, where if you spend over a certain amount you get 10 mini size products to try out, how good is that?! I have made so many discoveries through this, two of my favourites including the: Take the day off, make up remover, and the Moisture Surge Gel two of my swear by products. My latest however is the Sparkle Skin Exfoliator, its quite a harsh exfoliator, but I find this great for legs, especially to use before fake tanning to make sure you've removed all those dead skin cells, and well as dare I say it, small ingrown hairs (we all get it so I may as well be honest!). This nicely leads onto the Nip and Fab tanning gel, again a lovely product, I think i got it free in a magazine which is another great way to try new things. The product is really fast drying and I found the gel formula really hydrating, which was really refreshing for a fake tan, and I found the covering was really even and didn't leave any streaks, will definitely be trying out more from them!
Benefit are another amazing brand for sample, I always find the girls in there giving me lots of miniatures to go away and try out, and its how I discovered the Porefessional and the High beam highlighter, two products which I'm sure you've heard lovely raves about. If there are products you want to try, its definitely worth asking the beauty consultants and more often than not they're more than happy to help you! I think we always feel cheeky asking for free things, but why not?! They're there to be used right?
ESPA are another range I discovered recently. My beautician knows how sensitive my skin can be, and aways offers me samples of the new products they're using so I can test them out for myself. The products I have tried so far have been lovely, really rich and nourishing. My favourite has been the Super Active Skin Radiance Mask, which pretty much does what it says of the tin, definitely going to be purchasing the full size!
Finally the Aussie 3 Minute Miracle, is my favourite hair mask of all time, on recommendation from my hair dresser, I love all the Aussie products I have tried and will be doing a review on my most loved shortly so stay tuned! Although I now purchase the big size and use it two- three times a week, I still always buy the miniature for travelling, because it makes my hair so soft and luxurious!
Sorry this post was so long and rambley! But I hope I've given you some ideas of what products are out there that I'm loving, and how to make the most of samples!

Hey guys! Sorry about the lack of post on Saturday, exam stress is taking over my life at the moment! I thought I would show you today how to create my favourite 'Day Date' make-up look, or you could wear it just when you have somewhere nice to be during the day! Before we start, I do not claim to have any professional make-up knowledge or even be very good at it! But, enjoy!
I began by using Rimmels Wake Me Up foundation in the colour Ivory, to give you a nice and dewy spring look. Applied with my fave foundation brush, the Real Techniques Expert Face brush. Just keep blending until you have a nice coverage all over. I follow this up by using the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer under my eyes and over any redness and blemishes.
A new discovery for me, Soap and Glory's Archery Brow Tint and Precision Pencil in the colour Love is Blonde. Using the pencil at one end and the felt tip at the other, you can fill in your brows easily and to your own individual taste. I tend to stay away from the strong brow, I like to keep it as natural as possible.
So next up is the eyes. Step 1: Using my Urban Decay Naked 3 Pallet I pack Burnout all of the lid and then sweep Dust across the top for a light, shimmery finish. Step2: Using my Naked 1 Pallet, I used Buck (any matte brown will do) in the corners and the crease and used Virgin as a highlight in the inner corners of my eyes. Step 3: I'm a big fan of winged eyeliner, my usual go to product is the the Rimmel Glam Eyes Professional Liquid Liner. Last up, step 4: mascara, for my top lashes I use my fave mascara Maybellines The Falsies, and on the bottom Benefit's They're Real! Which I think has the perfect wand for applying bottom lash mascara!
After this I contoured my face using the bronzing powder in the Urban Decay Naked Flushed Pallet, dusted my cheeks with Nars' Orgasm blush and went back to the Naked Flushed to use the gorgeous highlight in there. I swept this underneath my eye and down the centre of my nose.
I finished the look off with my current favourite lipstick from Mac - Lustering, I think it's such a pretty pink!
Let me know if you try any of this out to impressed your day dates, or even just your friends!

I thought I'd share with you some of my make-up bag essentials that I just couldn't do with out! Some of these look very well loved I know, and they definitely are!
Urban Decay's Naked 3 Pallet as I'm sure most of you will l know is full of the prettiest neutral shades, both matte and shimmery. This pallet makes it easy to create a range of wearable, everyday looks looks even for those of us no professional make-up know how!
Another cult item that I use every day with out fail is Collection's Lasting Perfection concealer. You've probably heard about it's amazing coverage and staying power so I don't need to go into much detail. But it's very good and very affordable! My make-up is almost never with out one!
Maybelline's the Falsies Mascara in Black Drama is another product that is never missing from my make-up bag, as soon as it's run out I'm straight to Boots to buy another! It has a really nicely shaped wand and leaves your lashes looking volumised and never clumpy! Highly recommend trying this one out!
Molton Brown's Vitamin Lip Saver, although may not be the cheapest lip balm available, is definitely my lip saviour! I use this everyday with out fail, especially whenever my lips are feeling dry and it sorts them right out in no time at all!
The Real Techniques Expert Face brush is yet another item that gets a lot of love in the blogasphere, but for good reason! Foundation or tinted moisturiser glides on smoothly and blends into your face brilliantly, leaving hardly streaks.
Benefit's Rockateur is a blush that I always go back to again and again, it gives a lovely finish to the skin and the colour is a darker shade than most blushes, almost a bronzer. Although I'm not in love with the packaging of this product, I've still got a lot of love for it!
And last but not least, my favourite make-up item I own. You know the question about your house burning down and you can save one piece of make-up? Well this is mine. The Nars Happening palette is a compilation of their Laguna bronzer, Orgasm blush and a quad of eyeshadows. Although the palette was limited edition I'm pretty sure all these products are still sold as individuals - and as you can probably tell, I'm gonna need a new Laguna pretty soon!
Let me know what make-up products you cannot live with out!

So lately I've been making a conscious effort to change up the lipstick department of my makeup bag. Ie. swapping all the staple deep reds for more spring like brights. The idea of orange lipstick really put me out of me comfort zone at first, but after lusting over pictures of Jessica Alba pulling it off, we can all attempt to right? (or at least a girl can dream).
So for this look I used the Topshop lipstick in Infrared, which looks like a terrifyingly bright orange, but it can be toned down promise! What I do is go straight on with the lipstick from the bullet, then blot it in with my finger, this makes it work more as a stain (therefore lasting longer!) and also tones down the colour slightly making more wearable for day time. I actually really love the colour as it gives my make up a really bright and querky pop of colour. Additionally if you have blue eyes like me its a double bonus, because it makes them look brighter as orange and blue are opposites on the colour spectrum, therefore clashing against each other to make them appear brighter.
I then paired the look with Sin from the Urban Decay Naked Pallet all over my lid with Virgin in the inner corners, but any light champagne colours will do. I then finished it off with a double flick cat liner, giving it a feline flirty feel. I really like the double flick as it enhances the outer lashes making them appear thicker and longer. I then swept a coral tone blush Sugarbomb by Benefit across my cheeks to finish the look.
Let me know how you like to wear the orange lips trend in the comments!

So this week something pretty exciting happened, I rediscovered my Benefit World Famous Neutrals pallet, which I though was long long gone down the back of a draw somewhere never to be found again. (Spring clear outs are clearly not my forte). Lately I've been stuck in a bit of a rut with eye shadows, always reaching for my staple Urban Decay 'Naked' pallet, but since re-finding this beaut, its all I've been wearing. Its equipped with two cream shadows and a quad of neutral shades, perfect for me as I rarely venture past neautrals.
Now pink eyeshadow has always been a big no no for me, like seriously who could pull it off well? So I always used to avoid the pink shade 'Its complicated' in the pallet, but since seeing Cara Delevingne and Suki Waterhouse rocking it I thought why not. I think its the perfect pink shade to pull off the trend as it has a peachy undertone and gold shimmer meaning it just gives your eyes a warm golden shimmer, rather that WOW thats pink. I then use a little of the lightest colour 'Call my buff' in the inner corners and then blend the darkest warm brown 'Kiss me, Im tipsy' into the crease to give my eyes definition. Im a massive eye liner gal so the winged eye liner is my staple to finish the eye look off along with lavishing coats of the Maybelline 'The falsies' mascara.
To complete the spring trend I used Nars 'Laguna' bronzer to warm up my face, making me look less like a Bella Swan wannabe, along with my new favourite blush Nars 'Deep Throat'.
Finally to give my lips a pop of colour I used one of my all time favourite lipstick in the Loreal Rouge Caresse range called 'Aphrodite Scarlet', the beautiful name totally compliments the beautiful finish of the lipstick, sheer, glossy surprisingly pigmented and beautiful. Big love for this lipstick!
What us know your favourite spring trends and products!

It's the first of May! Pinch punch first of the month and all that jazz, which means it's that time to review the products I've been obsessing over this month. I've got a few different things I've been loving (all beauty related obvs!) which are all perfect for this beautiful spring weather we've been getting here in the UK.
The first favourite is skin care related, which is kinda different for me because I'm very much a stick to what you know sort of girl when in comes to moisturiser, as I can have very sensitive skin so this has been a god send in my daily routine and it is the Clarins HydraQuench Cream. Ive tried a few things in the HydraQuench range, which I think are all amazing if you have normal to dry skin. I use the moisturiser every morning, as I feel it really brightens the appearance of my skin, making it feel as look healthy. As soon as its applied my face feels instantly fresh and awake as if Ive just splashed my face with cold water or something (sounds weird right). Its really light weight, and sit perfectly under my base makeup, which is a total bonus so this product is definitely a winner for me!
On my cheeks I've been loving a combo of a new discovery with a favourite oldie which is Nars 'Deep Throat' on the apples of my cheeks (yes an awkward name when someone asks you what it is) with Benefits 'Watt's Up' as a highlight. I think this is the perfect spring combo, as the highlight has a real golden undertone with a sheer finish, which gives my cheeks a really beautiful glow. Deep Throat is then a real girlie pretty pink, which has teeny tiny shimmery golden particles, which also light up and brighten the cheeks, creating the perfect spring radience. I also love putting on Watts Up under my foundation on the tops of my cheek bones and on my temple to give my skin a dewy and glowing finish.
The next is a nude lip stick by Revlon called 'Pink in the Afternoon' which I've nicknamed 'My Lips but Better', because I finally feel I've found my perfect nude shade. My lips are quite naturally red, which means lots of nude shades really pale out my lips which is a look that reminds me of the old foundation lips loved back in 07 (looking back on photos I really don't know why I ever did it!) But this shade is so perfect, its a really warm pink nude, which brightens up my face giving my lips literally giving them the kiss of life. I LOVE it!
To round it all off I've been wearing Benefits 'Ring my Bella' perfume everyday, its the perfect fruity floral pretty spring scent, its a real flirty pick me up when your having a bad day.
Hope your all loving the leap into spring as much as I am, and leave comments sharing your monthly favs!
